English: Antônio Houaiss (Brazilian Portuguese: [ˈwajs] or [ˈuajs]; October 15, 1915–March 7, 1999) was a Brazilian lexicographer, writer and translator. The son of Lebanese immigrants, he was born and died in Rio de Janeiro.[
